Redwood City rescue workers at the scene of a building fire

Redwood City police and firefighters are on the scene of a building fire on Poplar Avenue that is creating a large plume of black smoke across the peninsula.

The Redwood City Police Department account X posted about the fire shortly before noon and asked people to avoid the area of ​​the 300 block of Poplar Avenue, which is near El Camino Real and the Redwood Junction neighborhood in Redwood City.

Helicopter footage of the fire showed several Redwood City Fire Department vehicles on site. So far, there have been no reports of evacuations in the neighborhood.
