LOS ANGELES – A high school guidance counselor in West Los Angeles is accused of having sex with a teenager on multiple occasions. Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department are now searching for additional victims.

On August 29, investigators arrested 37-year-old Julie Tichon, a Los Angeles resident, for a series of sexual assaults on a 16-year-old boy between February and March 2024.

Tichon worked as a school counselor at YULA High School in West Los Angeles, but has since left the school, the LAPD said.

On September 19, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office charged Tikhon with three counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and one count of oral sex with a person under 18.

“The suspect used her position of responsibility to gain the trust of these victims and then began inappropriate sexual relationships with them,” said Detective Russ Hess. “Instead of counseling them, she abused them.”

Although she is accused of attacking a single victim, investigators believe that other students may have come forward who could potentially contribute to the criminal case.

If convicted on the current charges, Tikhon could face a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

FOX 11 has reached out to YULA High School for comment and is awaiting a response.
