Spokane police investigate fatal motorcycle crash

SPOKANE, Washington – The Spokane Police Department (SPD) is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred last week near Corbin Park.

According to SPD, police responded to reports of a car crash involving a motorcycle near Division Street and Waverly Place on Wednesday, September 18 at around 6:15 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found a motorcycle in the roadway with the driver lying on the ground nearby. Police said the motorcycle was south of Bridgeport when it collided with another vehicle.

According to police, the motorcyclist died at the scene of the accident.

The Spokane County Coroner identified 19-year-old Jonathan Lew as the person who died in the crash. The coroner said Lew's cause of death was blunt force trauma and the manner of death was accidental.

According to the SPD, speed is likely a factor in the accident.
