Buxton teenagers raise money for friend involved in train crash

BUXTON, ND (Valley News Live) – Three friends of 18-year-old Jack Knudsvig are helping him raise money to buy a new car after he was involved in a train accident on Thursday, Sept. 19.

“You don’t expect something like this to happen to one of your closest friends,” said Rylan Sundby.

Melanie Billings, a friend of Knudsvig and one of the brains behind Go Fund Me, says school would be boring without him. “He's the funniest person I know. He tells you whatever is on his mind. It's usually really funny,” says Billings.

The accident left Knudsvig's car a total write-off. The three of them had the idea of getting Knudsvig a new car for his return home: “We all sat together. We thought Jack would need a new car and we thought why not start a Go Fund Me campaign,” said Tyson Knudsvig.

They have already raised over $20,000.

“It just shows what kind of community we have here. All these people made this possible and showed how much they care about him and his family,” Billings says.
