Anna Delvey gets motivational speech from Julia Fox and the judges at “DWTS” after backlash

After a tough first week on Dancing with the starsControversial contestant and convicted felon Anna Delvey received some advice in Week 2 from a surprise guest: Julia Fox.

During her introduction package in Tuesday’s Oscar episode, the Uncut gemstones The star and model stopped by Delvey's dance practice with pro partner Ezra Sosa. After Delvey expressed her regret to her partner that she was “really happy” after her first performance, but then “went online and read all these comments and just got so upset,” her boyfriend Fox showed up.

“When you're young, you might do things you're ashamed of later, but this all happened so publicly, so it's only right that we witness your moment now,” Fox told her.

Turning to the camera, Fox added: “It's sad to see all the people being so mean, because if it was her sister or her mother, they would be all for a second chance. She's such a sweet girl, so you're going to win America's hearts.”

The actress also admitted that although Delvey is “building a tough shell,” it is “obviously a defense mechanism.”

Fox's appearance comes after Sosa defended his partner on social media on Monday, telling viewers in an Instagram video that Delvey was crying after the show last week. “We couldn't find her,” Sosa said. “We finally found her in the bathroom. She was crying. I had never seen her like that before and it broke my heart.” As Delvey's partner, Sosa said, “I wanted to give her the best experience and knowing that wasn't the case” was heartbreaking for him.

“I know what she did was really controversial and not right, and I can never justify that to her or anyone in her life,” he added. But it's “tough” because “this person that I really fall in love with every day in rehearsal is not the person that everyone sees in the media.” Sosa implored the audience to show Delvey “some mercy,” adding, “Nobody deserves the hate that she's getting right now. She deserves a second chance. She rose to the challenge.”

On Tuesday, Delvey and Sosa danced the quickstep to “Suddenly I See” by KT Tunstall from two-time Oscar nominee The devil wears Pradawhich received marks of 6, 5 and 6 from the jury, who also had some advice for Delvey.

“Anna, listen, it's hard dealing with the haters,” Carrie Ann Inaba told her. “It really is. I can understand that. But I want you to fully embrace this, because I feel like you're still holding back a little bit. And what I want to tell you is, listen to this part, because this is the important part: You have beautiful lines, you have the potential to go far if you just embrace it more. You see that smile? You're part of the family now. You're not alone out there.”

During her post-dance interview, Delvey kept her remarks short and sweet. “I wasn't expecting this kind of backlash, but it's a new week and I'm trying to get through it.” And when asked what she found the hardest part of dancing, Delvey got the audience laughing by admitting, “I think kind of like jumping around.”
