The Royal Inn, located near Interstate 17 and Bethany Home Road, was seized by authorities “due to violations of federal travel laws and money laundering offenses.”

The bronze statue, valued at $20,000, is a memorial to a mother who died more than a decade ago. The woman's son said he was speechless and surprised by what had happened.

3. Man executed for involvement in woman's murder

Marcellus Williams was found guilty of stabbing a woman named Lisha Gayle to death during a break-in at her St. Louis home in 1998. Williams maintained his innocence and hoped to have his sentence commuted to life in prison.
