One person injured after boating accident on Taylor Bayou

Captain Ryan Hall says the injured person hit his head while sailing a boat under a bridge.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Texas – One person was injured in a boating accident in Taylor Bayou.

Captain Ryan Hall of Texas Parks and Wildlife told 12News that three people were hunting alligators on Taylor Bayou and drove under the Boondocks Bridge. One of the passengers didn't duck in time and hit his head.

The victim suffered severe head injuries and cuts to the face.

A rescue helicopter was called to the scene and the victim was transported to UTMB Galveston. Captain Hall says the victim was conscious when taken away, but he has no current information on his condition.

The boat operator was investigated at the scene and arrested for assault while under the influence of alcohol. He is being held in the Jefferson County Jail.
