18-year-old allegedly shot minors

DERIDDER, Louisiana (KPLC) – An 18-year-old is accused of firing shots and hitting a juvenile at the DeRidder High School band practice field, according to the DeRidder Police Department (DPD).

The following charges are brought against Anthony Goldman of Cleveland, Texas:

  • Attempted second degree murder
  • Possession of a firearm with obscured numbers or markings
  • Possession of a firearm in a gun-free zone

Shortly before midnight on September 20, the DPD said it was notified by the Beauregard Health System about a juvenile with a gunshot wound.

Investigators found that Goldman was at the DeRidder High School band practice field on O'Neal Street, DeRidder police said. Shortly after 9:40 p.m., Goldman fired several shots from a .22-caliber handgun that struck a juvenile. A fight then broke out between Goldman and the juvenile.

The firearm was later found and the serial number was discovered to have been removed.

Goldman was arrested shortly after 4 p.m. today.

The DeRidder Police Department and the Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office are currently investigating the incident. The DPD asks anyone with information about the incident to call them at 337-462-8911.
