(ABC 6 News) – On Tuesday, lawmakers questioned the CEO of the maker of Ozempic and Wegovy about the price of those drugs.

The company Norvo Nordisk charges Americans with type 2 diabetes nearly $1,000 per month for Ozempic and $1,300 for Wegovy.

The company also says the high costs are incurred in developing and manufacturing the drug. The CEO also blamed pharma benefit managers; an industry that he believes can keep drug costs high.
