Utah County woman arrested on suspicion of baby killing

SALT LAKE CITY — A Utah County woman is being held without bail in the Utah County Jail on suspicion of killing a baby.

Raona Dorothy Mora, 32, was arrested by the Utah County Sheriff's Office after officers responded to a 911 call about an injured child around 3:15 a.m., a news release said.

The press release states that medical units arrived and attempted to treat the child, who was “bleeding from the ear” and had a swollen head. A rescue helicopter was called shortly after and the child was taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Shortly after arriving at the hospital, the four-month-old baby died as a result of his serious injuries, the statement said.

The press release also states that the child's injuries “are not consistent with the manner described by (Mora)”.

Mora was booked into the Utah County Jail on suspicion of child abuse and manslaughter, a third-degree felony.
