Authorities investigate hit-and-run accident in Toms River in which pedestrian was seriously injured

The Ocean County District Attorney's Office and Toms River Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that left one person seriously injured.

Officials say the accident happened around 9:30 p.m. Saturday near Massachusetts Avenue and Mobile Lane in Toms River. They say a vehicle struck a pedestrian and failed to stop.

According to officials, the victim is in critical but stable condition at Community Medical Center.

Police believe the vehicle is a blue Volkswagen sedan. They say there is damage to the driver's side and a broken rearview mirror on the driver's side.
