Derek Hough and wife Hayley Erbert have a date night at the 2024 Emmys after-party

Derek Hough and Hayley Erbert had a glamorous evening after the 2024 Emmy Awards!

The professional dancing couple were dressed to the nines as they attended the Walt Disney Company's Emmy Awards celebration at the Music Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 15.

Hough, 39, wore a classic black tuxedo with a peacock feather lapel, while Erbert, 29, wore a silver mini dress that featured a feather-like midriff surrounded by a jewel-encrusted bodice and hem.

The evening outing is one of the first public events for the couple since Erbert underwent an emergency craniectomy in December 2023 after being hospitalized with a cranial hematoma.

She and Hough were already at the premiere of Inside Out 2after finishing the Symphony of Dance tour with her husband the previous month.

In an Instagram post four days after the tour concluded in San Diego, Erbert presented the highlights of her return to the stage and wrote a tribute to “one of the most fulfilling experiences” of her life.

“The Symphony of Dance tour has only been over for a few days and I still haven't found the right words to express my feelings,” wrote the dancer. “When we started in September, I was on cloud nine; I got to travel and perform with my new husband and put on the most ambitious show of my life.”

She continued: “Then December 6th came and everything came to a screeching halt.”

Despite her “uncertainty” about resuming touring just months after her health scare, Erbert announced: “I DID IT!”

“This tour has brought back to life a lot of parts of me that have been in the dark for so long, so I can't thank everyone enough who has supported us on this wild journey. I'm so grateful to still be here, with all of you, doing what I love,” she concluded. “Thank you, thank you, thank you 🫶.”

On December 7, 2023, Hough announced on Instagram that Erbert had been hospitalized after experiencing symptoms of a cranial hematoma—when blood collects in the skull—while on tour. A week later, he posted another update, saying his wife needed a cranial implant to “replace the piece [of the skull] that was removed during the craniectomy.”

Following the surgery, the couple, who married in August 2023, shared an emotional video on Instagram in which they talked about Erbert's “miraculous” recovery and thanked everyone who sent her words of support during her recovery.

“The past year has been a journey full of challenges, blessings, difficulties and triumphs,” Hough wrote to his wife, among other things. “Your grace and beauty have shone brightly throughout and reminded me every day how blessed I am to walk this path with you.”

He concluded his sweet anniversary message to Erbert by saying, “I love you more than words can express. Happy anniversary ❤️.”
