Kate Winslet reveals rare details from “Titanic”: This is what she “shouldn’t say”

Kate Winslet remembers rare moments behind the scenes of filming “Titanic”

Kate Winslet reveals “embarrassing” experiences on the set of Titanicin which she played the role of Rose Dewitt Bukater alongside Leonardo DiCaprio's Jack Dawson.

The 48-year-old spoke at the panel discussion for her latest film, “Lee,” about filming the fan-favorite scene in the 1997 film – in which Rose floats on a door in the Atlantic Ocean while Jack eventually drowns.

“Well, that was a pretty strange tank … because, to break the illusion, it was waist-high at the time,” Winslet said in an interview with People Magazine.

She continued: “So, at first I would periodically ask myself, 'Can I just go pee?' And then I would get up, get off the door, walk to the edge of the tank, about twenty feet away, and literally have to swing my leg over and climb up and walk back to the door. It's horrible.”

“Anyway, yes. So it was waist high. Leo, I'm afraid to say, knelt down,” she added. “I shouldn't say that anyway. Jimmy Cameron's [the director] will call me. Actually, the amazing thing about the edges of the tank was that it was an infinity tank.”

In an interview earlier this year, Winslet also recounted her behind-the-scenes experiences of another memorable scene in the film.

She recalled: “We kept kissing. I had a lot of bright makeup on and had to check our makeup between takes. In the end, after every take, I looked like I had been sucking on a caramel candy bar because his makeup rubbed off on me.”

The Divergent The actress joked: “And it looked like something was missing from his face because there was this big pale spot from all my makeup.”

The panel interview takes place after the actress' latest film lee was recently released in theaters on September 13th.
