Color Run draws attention to the murder of a Kenosha man, still no suspects

KENOSHA — Preparations are in full swing for this weekend's Color Run for Kenny, honoring the life of Kenny Davidson, a Kenosha resident who was tragically shot and killed last June. His family is still searching for answers and the community is coming together to celebrate his life and demand justice.

Kenny Davidson, 32, was killed in a shooting near the intersection of 48th Street and 36th Avenue on June 14. He was at home watching the NBA Finals with his mother when he went outside to take a phone call and was shot.

“I hope this will bring more attention so that my brother can finally get justice,” said Charlie Davidson, Kenny's older brother.

All summer, Kenny's family has organized vigils and peace marches, but they have yet to receive any updates on the case. Now, Charlie and family friend Liz Morand are organizing a color run to honor Kenny's memory.

They have prepared race T-shirts, paint powder and “Justice for Kenny” bracelets. According to Morand, who is leading the campaign, more than 100 participants have already registered for the event.

“Nothing really changes until Kenny gets justice,” Morand said. “It's really about getting the word out and helping his family get the justice they deserve.”

Charlie noted that the event was a fitting tribute to his sports-loving brother.

“He loved to run. You could always see him on the treadmill or doing soccer practice with the kids,” Charlie said. “That sets a good example for him.”

Both Charlie and Liz hope the event will bring more attention to the case and help find answers.

“If you're a brother like me, you want answers too,” Charlie said. “If that makes the KPD work harder in the investigation, do their job and find the person who did this, then that's the whole point of it.”

The Color Run for Kenny will be held on Sunday, September 29th at 9am at Lake Andrea, Pleasant Prairie.
