Driver falls asleep in accident in Beaver County, injuring 14-year-old

The crash occurred in August

State police released new information late Tuesday night about a crash in Hanover Township, Beaver County, that injured a 14-year-old boy last month. On Aug. 26 at about 2:15 p.m., investigators said a 39-year-old woman was traveling on Route 30 when she fell asleep at the wheel, drove off the road, struck a sewer line and then a telephone pole. The driver is believed to have suffered minor injuries and her 14-year-old passenger is believed to have suffered serious injuries. State police said charges are expected.

According to investigators, a 39-year-old woman was driving on Route 30 at around 2:15 p.m. on August 26 when she fell asleep at the wheel, drove off the road, hit a sewer line and then a telephone pole.

The driver probably suffered minor injuries and her 14-year-old passenger probably suffered serious injuries.

The state police announced that a summons was to be expected.
