Man arrested, accused of setting ex-girlfriend's car on fire and making threats

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – The Bexar County Fire Marshal’s Office (BCFMO) announces the arrest of a man accused of setting his ex-girlfriend’s car on fire.

Rasah Malik McIntyre, 29, was arrested and charged with arson and harassment after a car was found burning in northeast unincorporated Bexar County just before 2 a.m. Saturday. BCFMO investigators later determined the fire was likely intentionally set using a liquid accelerant.

The victim was McIntyre's ex-girlfriend, who told investigators that the suspect had threatened her.

McIntyre was arrested on Monday on two warrants and taken into custody in the 4600 block of Rittiman Road. During the arrest, officers said they found a handgun and an extended magazine containing 29 rounds of ammunition.

“Arson crimes are often associated with violent crimes, whether it's domestic violence, gang activity or drug trafficking and organized crime. This is a good example of how to catch an arsonist before their criminal behavior escalates and someone is seriously injured or killed,” said Bexar County Fire Chief Chris Lopez.

McIntyre was booked into the Bexar County Jail and may face additional weapons charges for being a fugitive from justice.
