Eastpointe police search for driver after fatal hit-and-run accident

EASTPOINTE, Mich. – Police are searching for the suspect in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Eastpointe.

The accident occurred on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, in the area of ​​Gratiot Avenue northbound near Chestnut Avenue in Eastpointe. Witnesses reported seeing a man lying on the ground in the middle of Gratiot Avenue.

When police arrived, they found a 30-year-old Roseville man dead on the sidewalk between the center and right lanes. The investigation revealed that he was crossing Gratiot Avenue on foot when he was struck by a silver four-door sedan. The vehicle stopped only briefly before the driver left the scene heading north.

Police believe the four-door sedan involved in this fatal hit-and-run crash may be a 2010-2015 Honda Accord. The vehicle has damage to the front and top of the hood where it struck the victim.
