Woman shot six times by partner in apparent murder-suicide

Tragic details have emerged in a murder-suicide case in northeast Columbus.

The Franklin County Coroner's Office determined that 41-year-old Nicole Pannell was shot six times earlier this month and ruled her death a homicide.

Pannell's toxicology report also found traces of ethanol (an indicator of alcohol consumption), benzoylecgonine (a component of cocaine) and marijuana.

It happened on September 9 at a home on Pine Rise Court, south of I-270. Police were called to the scene just before 11:15 p.m.

Officers found 31-year-old Kristian Hives and Pannell unconscious at home. Paramedics pronounced both dead.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the man, 31-year-old Kristian Hives, shot Pannell before turning the gun on himself.

Officers on scene told ABC 6 News that they believe it was a domestic dispute.
