Sheriff investigates pepper spray incident at Tennessee high school football game

WKRN.com in Nashville has reported that both the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) and the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office are investigating an alleged pepper spray incident that occurred at Blackman High School last Friday when Blackman hosted Oakland High School.

There are no details on who may have been pepper sprayed or how it may have happened, but the TSSAA confirmed to WKRN that it has requested statements from both schools on the matter.

“We expect to receive a report and any disciplinary action from the TSSAA later this week,” said a statement from Rutherford County Schools. “We will consider further action based on that report.”

The same spokesperson told WKRN that the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office is assisting in the investigation into the matter. However, the sheriff's office declined to provide further details because the investigation is ongoing.

Oakland defeated Blackman in the football game 13-12.
