Several accidents on I-80 slowed traffic in Omaha on Wednesday morning

OMAHA, Nebraska (WOWT) – Motorists faced delays on I-80 after several accidents disrupted traffic during rush hour Wednesday morning.

Shortly before 9 a.m., a serious accident occurred on I-80 near 60th Street.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area as large portions of westbound I-80 were closed.

Workers reportedly had to use construction barrels pulled to the side to divert traffic.

Traffic was significantly disrupted for about 45 minutes.

The first accident occurred shortly after 6 a.m. Wednesday morning on I-29 northbound near the I-80 interchange in Council Bluffs, where a semi-trailer truck ended up on its side.

Two accidents then occurred in the same area. One accident occurred just before 7 a.m. on the ramp from westbound I-80 to northbound I-680. The next accident occurred around 7:30 a.m., again in the center lane at the I-80/I-680 intersection.

Just before 9 a.m., another accident occurred on westbound I-80 near 84th Street.
