The storm is expected to rapidly intensify over the next few days as it moves north into the Gulf of Mexico. It could become a severe Category 3 storm before making landfall on the Florida coast. Helene will rapidly intensify and bring hurricane-force winds and torrential rain to the Carolinas later this week.

Hurricane Helene

Helene is expected to make landfall along the Gulf Coast on Thursday or Friday. This could bring tropical weather conditions to the Southeast and the Carolinas, with the possibility of heavy rains and strong winds before the weekend.

The forecast track will likely change several more times before the storm makes landfall. Currently, the most likely point for the storm to make landfall is near the Big Bend region of Florida late Thursday.
