Teenager dies in hospital after serious injuries in motorcycle crash in Utah County

SALEM, Utah County — A teenager died Tuesday night after being hospitalized in critical condition following a motorcycle crash. He died at the hospital the next day, according to Salem City Police.

According to SCPD, the accident occurred on Monday just before 7 p.m. at the corner of 340 South and Woodland Hills Drive in front of Valley View Middle School. The teenager on the motorcycle and a car collided as the car attempted to turn left.

The victim, whose family identified him as 17-year-old Riley Smith, was transported to Primary Children's Hospital by LifeFlight, SCPD said.

Police said the accident was still under investigation.

Riley's family and friends have set up a *GoFundMe campaign to help his family with expenses during this time of need.
