What was Ryan Routh, accused of trying to assassinate Trump, doing in Ukraine?

Ryan Routh, 58, who is accused of attempting to assassinate former US President Donald Trump on September 15, traveled to Ukraine at least once in 2022. Although it is still unclear what he did there, there is information showing that he tried to recruit foreign volunteers for the Ukrainian army, mainly through websites he created himself. Later, he also seems to have tried to recruit people for Taiwan. However, the Ukrainian army claims it never worked with Routh.

A few years ago, Ryan Routh posted a photo of himself on Facebook wearing a bulletproof vest and posing against a backdrop of the Ukrainian flag. His account has since been deleted, but a number of social media users archived before it was deleted from the Internet.

The 58-year-old, who had probably planned an armed ambush against Donald Trump on his golf course in West Palm Beach on September 15, 2024, regularly posted on social media about the Russian invasion of Ukraine. An archived version of his X-Account (which has since also deleted), his report shows that he regularly called on public figures and decision-makers to support the Ukrainian armed forces.

According to his posts on X, Routh appears to have traveled to Ukraine in April 2022 with the goal of “fighting.”

The scientist said that such answers made him lose interest in Routh. He had also heard that his activities had no real basis.
