Madison police arrest two people after finding weapons and drugs

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Officers seized an AR-15-style rifle, drugs and a large amount of cash after a man allegedly fled from officers during an attempted traffic stop Tuesday, Madison police said.

According to MPD, officers attempted to pull over a driver at E. Washington Avenue and Hagan Drive around 5:20 a.m., but the vehicle sped off. Officers said they attempted to use spike barriers to stop the vehicle, but that did not work.

Officers later found the vehicle in a neighboring town. According to the MPD report, officers found marijuana, drug packaging and an AR-15 style rifle.

Detectives from the MPD's Violent Crimes Unit searched the residence where the vehicle was found and reported finding additional evidence related to drugs, weapons and cash.

Following their search, police arrested two suspects. One of them is charged with participating in a crime, namely maintaining a drug dwelling, possession of cocaine with intent to resell and possession of THC with intent to resell. The other is charged with fleeing, possession of cocaine with intent to resell and possession of THC with intent to resell.
