Bedford Heights man in court over fatal car crash in Portage County

PORTAGE COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) – A Bedford Heights man was arraigned Wednesday morning in connection with a fatal car crash in March.

According to police, bail for 34-year-old Devonte Anthony was set at $100,000. The reason for this is a traffic accident in which one person died.

According to police, the March 14 accident occurred on SR 43 south of Kennedy Road and was a head-on collision between two Honda Accords.

According to police, Anthony was charged with aggravated manslaughter, drunk driving and driving on the left side of the road.

“Impairment and impatience resulted in the death of George Shiner of Kent,” Streetsboro police said in a statement.

According to police, Anthony was under the influence of alcohol when he crossed the double yellow line and collided head-on with an oncoming car.

Anthony's next hearing is scheduled for October 16 in the Portage County Court of Common Pleas.
