Wilson County Schools considers zoning changes | Lebanon

The proposed rezonings would take effect for the 2025-2026 school year and would not become final until approved by the Wilson County School Board. Under the proposed plan, 651 students would be transferred from West Elementary School to LaGuardo Elementary. 21 students from Park Glen would transfer from Stoner Creek Elementary to Elzie D. Patton Elementary, 114 students from Tuscan Gardens would be transferred from Stoner Creek Elementary to West Elementary School, along with 130 students from Sleep Hollow and Parris Place. Another 17 students from Pin Oak, Bass Lane and Lebanon Road would also be transferred from Stoner Creek Elementary to West Elementary.

Parents and guardians can provide feedback on the proposed rezoning on the school district's website.

After the zoning change, 454 students would be enrolled at Elzie Patton, 642 students at Stoner Creek, and 473 students at West Elementary. Elzie D. Patton would be at 75% capacity, West Elementary at 59% capacity, and Stoner Creek at 64% capacity.

“I also recommend rezoning 214 students from West Wilson to Mt. Juliet Middle to accommodate future growth in the West Wilson zone,” Mayfield said.

If the recommendation to reassign students from West Wilson Middle School to Mt. Juliet Middle School were approved, Mt. Juliet Middle School would be at 91% capacity and West Wilson Middle School would be at 79% capacity.

During the last school board meeting on September 4, Mayfield stated that construction at LaGuardo Elementary is moving forward, with work currently underway on the school's roof and storm shelter siding.

“It's going really well,” Mayfield said. “We've had good weather. Everything points to the building opening on time.”
