Former Walmart manager accused of stealing over $200,000: Norwalk PD

NORWALK, CT — A former Walmart manager accused of stealing more than $200,000 from a Norwalk store over time was arrested in Texas this week, police said.

In a press release, Police Sergeant Ryan Evarts said the department received a report in April that a former manager of a Walmart store on Main Avenue had been stealing money from the store over a period of time.

According to Evarts, police found that former manager Erfan Ahmadi, 40, of Austin, Texas, embezzled a large sum of money between July 2023 and April 2024.

After further investigation, police concluded that Ahmadi stole about $238,000 during that period, Evarts said.

When officers tried to locate Ahmadi, they learned he had fled to Texas. According to Evarts, police were then able to obtain an arrest warrant based on their investigation.

With the help of Walmart investigators and Texas Rangers, Ahmadi was arrested and held for extradition, Evarts said.

On Tuesday, Norwalk police flew to Texas and brought Ahmadi back to Connecticut. He was charged with first-degree theft.

His bail was set at $500,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court next month, according to Evarts.
