A shot is said to have been fired near a school on Wednesday morning

Kennewick police are investigating a report of a shot fired near Kamiakin High School around 11 a.m. Wednesday.

According to sources, the parents of a KaHS student called 911 and said their teen had been approached by gang members who pointed a gun at him. According to KPD, there was a report of an incident at the apartment complex across Arthur Street from the school.

Police are still investigating a report of the shooting, and Arthur Street was briefly closed while police checked the area. No injuries were reported. Sources say the incident is believed to be gang-related.

Police did not specify which apartment complex was being investigated, but the North Arthur and Metaline area has seen a high number of police calls over the years.
