Man arrested after shooting incident near Newnan High that prompted curfew | News

The incident occurred around 3:46 p.m. on Armory Road when the suspect pulled up next to another vehicle and pointed a gun at the driver, according to a Newnan city spokesman.

The victim was on his way to pick up a child from Newnan High School when he drove away and headed toward the school.

Newnan High School was briefly cordoned off as a precaution. Police responded, stopped the suspect's vehicle and arrested him. A weapon was found in the car.

Authorities confirmed that the incident did not occur on school grounds and that there was no direct threat to the school.
