Savannah Chrisley describes her mother Julie's decision to re-sentence as an “injustice”

Julie Chrisley's family reacts to the news of the new conviction.

As Chrisley knows best When she appeared before a judge in downtown Atlanta on Wednesday, September 25, she was told that her 84-month prison sentence had been upheld. Now her family is speaking out about the decision.

In a video obtained by Entertainment Tonight, Julie's eldest children, Savannah Chrisley and Chase Chrisley, appeared with their family's attorney, Alex Little, to address the press about the verdict.

“This is 100 percent [an] Injustice,” said 27-year-old Savannah.

“What happened is unjust,” she continued. “I will continue to fight for my parents. And I will be as loud as I can because the judge made it clear today that she is using my candor to change a system that is so broken.”

Savannah questioned the judge's statement that her previous statements about her parents' legal situation were “not factual,” saying, “I would like to know what steps she took to verify the information or perhaps determine if it was accurate. … This judge has not done her research when it comes to the terms [of the prisons my parents are in].”

Savannah emphasized that her commitment to prison reform was “not only for her parents,” but also for “thousands of other inmates.”

“I am very disappointed, I am very disappointed,” she said, adding that her family “is in the process of appealing the verdict and that will happen within the next 14 days.”

The family's lawyer also noted that they were “incredibly disappointed with the results.”

“I think we have a justice system where Ms. Chrisley wins an appeal, her guidelines are significantly reduced and the court doesn't give her a day's credit,” Little said. “I think just talking about the public's trust in the courts, that's a troubling outcome. I think we're also incredibly disappointed by the personal attacks on family members, that's just uncalled for.”

Little said they are “reviewing our options for moving forward,” adding that they “appreciate everyone's support.”

Julie, 51, and her 55-year-old husband Todd Chrisley were sentenced to a total of 19 years in prison for fraud and tax evasion in November 2022. Both began their sentences in January 2023, with Julie serving her seven-year sentence at Federal Medical Center Lexington in Kentucky while Todd began his 12-year sentence at Federal Prison Camp Pensacola in Florida.

However, the longtime couple appealed the case in December 2022 and received a reduced sentence in September 2023.

After the appeal hearing began in April, a judge allowed Julie's appeal and overturned her conviction in June due to insufficient evidence. Todd's conviction was affirmed.

“We are pleased that the court ruled that Julie's sentence was unjustified, but we are of course disappointed that it denied Todd's appeal,” the Chrisleys' attorney, Alex Little, said in a statement to PEOPLE.

“With this step behind us, we can now appeal the couple's convictions for the illegal search that initiated the case,” Little added. “The family appreciates the continued support they have received throughout this process. And they hope for more good news in the future.”

Several days before her resentencing hearing, it was announced on the official website of the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) that Julie was no longer in their custody.
