Woman arrested after fleeing deputy sheriff and causing accident in Thurston County – KIRO 7 News Seattle

OLYMPIA, Wash. — A chase involving a stolen truck ended in a crash on Black Lake Boulevard in Olympia, the Thurston County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.

An officer attempted to stop the stolen truck, which was traveling at 85 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone, but lost sight of it shortly before it crashed.

The incident began when the officer spotted the speeding truck and turned around to follow it.

Before the deputy turned on the vehicle's emergency lights, he drove alongside the truck at 85 miles per hour.

When the deputy called in the pursuit and attempted to close in to deploy a StarChase tracker, deputies say they were forced to slow down to ensure the safety of other motorists on the road.

Thirty-five seconds after losing sight of the truck, the officer came upon the scene of the accident, where the stolen vehicle had struck another car.

The officer arrested the driver of the stolen truck and called for medical assistance.

The suspect, who was previously convicted of possession of a stolen vehicle in Pierce County in 2023, was arrested and booked into the Thurston County Jail.

She now faces two charges of assault with a vehicle, fleeing from police and possession of a stolen vehicle.
