$500,000 bail set for man accused of causing multi-county chase and standoff with SWAT team – WHIO TV 7 and WHIO Radio

WARREN COUNTY – The man accused of leading police on a multi-county chase last month and causing a SWAT team standoff appeared in court today for the first time since he was formally charged.

Johnathon E. Brown, 32, of Hamilton, appeared via video from jail in a Warren County Common Pleas courtroom on Wednesday. During his hearing, a judge told him he needed $500,000 to get out of jail.

If he can raise the money, he will be placed under house arrest.

As reported on News Center 7 at 5:00Prosecutors indicated that Brown may face further legal problems.

“We also understand that further investigations are underway against the defendant,” Warren County Assistant Prosecutor John Arnold said in court.

Brown was charged on Tuesday with six counts, including aggravated assault, failure to obey an order or signal of a police officer and obstructing train operations.

He is charged in connection with a chase and SWAT team deployment that spanned two counties last month.

During the chase on Interstate 75 through Franklin in Warren County, it reached speeds of 100 mph at times before being shifted to public roads and finally ending in Miamisburg when it collided with a moving train, resulting in a standoff that lasted for hours.

Prosecutors also said he attempted to injure a Springboro police officer with the stolen truck he was driving.

News Center 7 checked on Wednesday and learned that all charges related to the incident will be filed in Warren County.
