Police arrest man accused of child abuse in Orange County

Winter Park police said an Orange County man was arrested for lewd and lascivious molestation.

David Ogden is named after his father, the chief of the Windermere police.

At Ogden's first appearance, a judge ruled that he would remain incarcerated without bail.

The 38-year-old was arrested by Winter Park police.

Police said they received a call from Ogden's neighbor, who was at work, claiming she saw Ogden on video surveillance lurking near her apartment.

Investigators said Ogden was gone when police and the neighbor arrived.

According to the police report, Ogden broke into his neighbor's apartment and went straight into her daughter's bedroom.

Ogden is accused of touching the two girls and himself while the girls were sleeping.

The police report states that he filmed the crime with his mobile phone.

Windermere Police Chief David A. Ogden sent the following statement to Channel 9:

“I am disheartened, shocked and devastated by the recent news of the arrest of a family member. As difficult as this is, I believe in the importance of pursuing legal action and in the principles of accountability and justice. I fully support the investigation and trust that the truth will emerge through due process.

Ogden is charged with resisting arrest, burglary and two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation.

He was charged with three counts of lewd and lascivious exposure, but these were dropped.
