Police say Hilmar woman dies in wrong-way driver accident in Modesto

One person died and another was injured in a crash in Modesto on Thursday, according to police. Modesto police said the crash was reported around 2:30 p.m. on the Carpenter Road Overpass south of South 9th Street. The crash involved a Nissan Rogue and a Toyota Tacoma. The driver of the Nissan, a Hilmar woman, suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital. She did not survive her injuries, police said. The driver of the Toyota suffered non-life-threatening injuries. According to police, information on the crash indicates the Nissan was traveling northbound on Carpenter Road in the left lane while the Toyota was traveling southbound in the same lane. There is no indication drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, police said. The crash remains under investigation.
