In view of the increasing number of cases, the federal government is distributing free COVID-19 test kits

(WFSB) – The federal government is once again distributing free COVID-19 test kits.

Starting sometime this month, you can order four test kits delivered straight to your door.

This initiative is being resumed as the number of cases has been rising again since the summer months.

Dr. Paul Anthony of Hartford Hospital says case numbers in Connecticut and across the country began to rise in June.

Over the past four years, the largest increase occurred in August.

Dr. Anthony identified several factors that have contributed to the changes seen this year.

“There are many theories, but I think it's probably the combination of the variants, the hot weather and Covid fatigue that's causing it,” Dr. Anthony said.

Dr. Anthony recommends ordering your test kits now before the winter season, when people are battling not only COVID-19, but also flu and RSV.
