Thousands of homes without power, intersection closed after car crash in Delta Twp.

DELTA TWP, Michigan (WILX) – The intersection of Waverly Road between Kalamazoo and Blanche in Delta Twp. will be closed for an “extended period of time,” officials told News 10 Wednesday night. The accident knocked out power to thousands of nearby homes.

According to police, a vehicle struck a power pole at the intersection, knocking out power and scattering debris across the road. More than 2,000 people were left without power as a result of the accident, Consumers Energy said on social media.

No one was injured, but the driver is currently “missing,” officials told News 10 reporters at the scene.

It is unclear how long the road will remain closed. It is also not possible to estimate when the power supply will be restored.
