Crime Insider sources report that when the bus stopped at a Family Dollar near Halifax Street, a young man entered the bus through the rear emergency door, lunged at one of the children involved in the fight and attacked him.

“We don't know if the person who committed the robbery is an adult or an older juvenile, but once he is caught, charges will be filed,” said Deputy Police Chief Emanuel Chambliss. “The juvenile may have a broken nose and we will know more when the doctors tell us what they find from the injury.”

Police said they were investigating whether any of the children involved in the fight called for family support.

The bus driver was also attacked when he tried to drag the young man out of the bus.

“When something happens on the bus and you have a child with you, it's disturbing because I had two with me. I didn't expect to experience something like this,” said one parent.

A woman who wished to remain anonymous told Jon Burkett that a young boy was covered in blood and children were crying. “It's very, very scary,” she said.

Police are looking for more information about the person who jumped onto the bus.
