Suspect arrested after fatal shooting in northeast Portland

On July 28, 45-year-old Jacob Forrest was found dead on the sidewalk near Northeast 6th Avenue and Holladay Street.

PORTLAND, Oregon – A suspect has been arrested and charged with murder after a man was found dead on the sidewalk in northeast Portland.

On Tuesday, Portland police arrested 27-year-old Cresencio Flores of Portland. Flores was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon.

At 6:02 a.m. on July 28, officers responded to reports of shots fired near Northeast 6th Avenue and Northeast Holladay Street in the Lloyd District. When they arrived, they found a man, 45-year-old Jacob Forrest, dead on the sidewalk. Police said the suspect left the scene before they arrived, and no arrests were made at this time.


The coroner later confirmed that Forrest's cause of death was homicide by gunshot wounds.

Forrest's family has been notified of Flores' arrest, the Portland Police Bureau said.
