Royal City man arrested after barricading himself during standoff | Spokane News

ROYAL CITY, Wash. — A Royal City man was taken into custody after barricading himself in a home to avoid arrest on domestic violence charges.

According to the Grant County Sheriff's Office, the incident began around noon Wednesday when officers responded to reports of a robbery at a home in the 15,000 block of B-Southeast Street.

The suspect, 19-year-old Antonio Perez Saquic, was wanted for second-degree assault (domestic violence) and violation of a domestic violence protection order. Officers said they tried unsuccessfully to get him to leave the house, which led to the involvement of a tactical response team.

After attempts to persuade him, including using diversionary devices, Saquic was eventually found hiding under a bed around 2:30 p.m. Officials said he was arrested without incident and is currently in the Grant County Jail.
