Christopher Reeve's son Will Reeve, 32, reveals whether he would like to follow in his late father's acting footsteps

Although Will Reeve is the spitting image of his late father, actor Christopher Reeve, he has no interest in becoming a Hollywood leading man.

Speaking to PEOPLE this week, Will said he “likes” working as a correspondent for ABC News and Good Morning America, but he's “just not good” as an actor.

“I like my job as a correspondent at ABC News,” revealed 32-year-old Reeve on the red carpet at the New York premiere of the new documentary “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story.”

“I think maybe I like the performance,” admitted the artist from North Adams, Massachusetts.

“But I don't know if I'm a good actor.”

Reeve famously played Superman

Of course, Superman was also mentioned and new actor David Corenswet will don the red cape in the upcoming Superman film, which is scheduled to be released in 2025.

“I think they found a good guy in David,” Will said of the studios' decision to cast the Philadelphia native, who has starred in “The Politician” (2019-2020) and “Twisters” (2024), among others, in the iconic role.

The 31-year-old Corenswet is the third actor after Christopher Reeve to play the Man of Steel on the big screen, following Brandon Routh and Henry Cavill.

Will has a brief cameo in the upcoming superhero flick, but he and his siblings are also heavily featured in the new Super/Man documentary.

The documentary follows Christopher's beginnings as an aspiring actor in New York City and his time with his best friend Robin Williams up to his tragic accident at a horse competition in Culpepper, Virginia in 1995 and its aftermath.

The story then focuses on his paralysis as a result of falling from his horse and the impact this had on his life with his wife, Dana Reeve, whom he had married three years before the accident.

From 1995 onwards, Will's mother became his father's primary caregiver, caring for him until his death in October 2004, while also continuing to mother their three children.

After his accident, he advocated for spinal cord injury research, including human embryonic stem cell research, and for better insurance coverage for people with disabilities.

His advocacy work included leading the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation and co-founding the Reeve-Irvine Research Center.

All of Reeve's children serve on the board of the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation.

“My mother was perhaps the most extraordinary person to ever walk this earth,” Will told PEOPLE, adding, “She didn't have to wake up every day and decide to provide for our family. That's just the way she was.”

Tragically, his mother was diagnosed with lung cancer in August 2005, ten months after her husband's death, even though she had never smoked.

Finally, Dana died in March 2006 at the age of 44, leaving Will and his siblings parentless within 17 months.

“That’s when I realized I was completely alone,” Will said, recalling his thoughts and feelings during that dark time.

Super Man: The Christopher Reeve Story opened in select theaters on September 21, with special repeats on September 25 in honor of Christopher's 72nd birthday.
