Prepare for a real price shock

Strangely, and if I do say so myself, a little cynical, Sony has chosen not to reveal the price of the PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary Bundle up front. Considering that today is the day all 12,300 units will be released for pre-order, it seems Sony is holding back this crucial information until we all try to buy one ourselves on PlayStation Direct in a few hours.

I'm guessing it's particularly high priced, as the bundle is estimated to cost around $1,199. And while that's an eye-watering price, this bundle includes a hell of a lot. You get a limited edition PS5 Pro ($699), DualSense Edge ($199), DualSense ($69), and DualSense Charging Dock ($29), plus all the extras like the charging cable designed like the PS1 controller port. With everything included in the box, a four-figure price is almost guaranteed.

The PS5 Pro should be popular

Since Sony confirmed that the PS5 Pro will cost a whopping $699 / £699 / AU$1,199, there has been speculation online as to whether such a high price will deter customers from buying. However, before PlayStation Direct UK opens pre-orders for the PS5 Pro at around 10am BST, a virtual queue has already formed, with Sony noting: “We are currently experiencing a high volume of customer traffic on our website.”

It certainly looks like demand for the PS5 Pro will be high, and we expect interest in the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection to be even higher. And just for your information, PlayStation Direct US does not have There is currently a virtual queue, but we expect one to open as the pre-order deadline approaches.

What is the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection?

If you are completely out of the picture, you may be wondering what exactly Is the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection. In short, it's a range of PS5 hardware and accessories in the style of the PlayStation 1 console that's launching this winter to celebrate, you guessed it, 30 years since the launch of the very first PlayStation console.

The headliner is the PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle (pictured above), which includes a special grey PS5 Pro console (with vertical stand), a DualSense controller, a DualSense Edge controller, a DualSense charging station, and a console cover for a disc drive (the disc drive itself must be purchased separately, though). You also get a really nifty controller charging cable, PlayStation-branded cable ties, stickers and paper clips, and finally a limited edition PlayStation poster (1 of 30 possible designs). There will only be 12,300 of these worldwide. Price is unconfirmed.

Other items include a PS5 Slim Digital Edition in this nostalgic PS1-inspired design, as well as three accessories, all in the same stunning retro color scheme: the PlayStation Portal, DualSense Edge, and the regular DualSense controller.
