Two people have been arrested for manslaughter after a mother of five died following an alleged cosmetic procedure.

Alice Webb, 33, died in the early hours of Tuesday morning at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital after becoming unwell and being admitted there the previous day.

Gloucestershire Police said investigations were ongoing after officers were called to hospital by ambulance services at 11.35am on Monday.

The two arrested people have now been released on bail and their families are being supported by specially trained officers, police added.

It was reported that Ms. Webb underwent a non-surgical Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) using liquid.

Dane Knight, Ms Webb's partner, wrote on Facebook: “I would like to express my sincere thanks to all the family and friends who have been there for us during this time of need, including all the kind messages they have sent to my children and me.

“There [were] some very nice messages from some of your children, which brought a smile to the corners of my children's mouths.”

He added: “Please, please consider the feelings of these five girls.”

Save Face, a national register of accredited practitioners providing non-surgical cosmetic treatments, said: “Last December we launched a campaign calling on the government to ban high-risk liquid BBL procedures.

“We have expressed our deep concern that if urgent action is not taken, someone could lose their life. Today we were devastated to hear of Alice's tragic death.”

Non-surgical BBLs are not illegal in the UK, but the organisation said it had supported 500 women who had suffered complications from the procedure.

The Independent Recently, it was reported that hundreds of women were hospitalized after their buttock lift and breast augmentation operations failed with unlicensed doctors.

The procedure, which can be performed legally by laypeople in the UK, involves injecting hyaluronic acid to change the shape of the buttocks or breasts.

Data shows that botched butt lifts leave women with permanent disfigurement and that surgery is required to correct the poor job.

A woman told The Independent She was in a coma for four days after a botched surgery involving fluid injections. She said the ordeal left her with pain in her chest and arm.
