MSP Calumet and the Copper Country stuff a Blue Goose to combat food insecurity

Michigan State Police don't just protect their community. They also serve. Yesterday, police officers from MSP Calumet Post hosted the first in a series of “Stuff a Blue Goose” events at Tadych's Marketplace in Houghton. The program asks customers to donate ten dollars for twenty dollars worth of food. The police department then distributes the food to food banks across the county.

So we've already sold half a dozen bags in the first few minutes that we've been here. The cooperation from all the grocery stores has been phenomenal. They're all very helpful and excited to do this too because without the support of the grocery stores and the community, this event would not be as successful.– Alan Nahri, community service officer, Michigan State Police-Calumet Post

Today, officers will arrive at Louie's Super Foods in Lake Linden at 1 p.m. Then next week, the Calumet Post will host Stuff a Blue Goose at Larry's Market in Baraga and Pat's Foods in Lanse and Calumet.
