Armed murder suspect arrested after hours-long standoff

A 24-year-old armed murder suspect was taken into custody Thursday after a nine-hour standoff with Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department officers in Compton.

The suspect was arrested around 2:30 a.m. Thursday, Deputy Daniel Dominguez told City News Service.

According to LASD, the gunman was identified by LASD homicide investigators as a suspect in connection with the Jan. 7 shooting of a man in the 12800 block of San Pedro Street in the unincorporated community of Los Angeles.
