September 26, 2024, 9:40 a.m..

A Roseburg man was arrested Wednesday night after a lengthy chase.

A report from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office states that at 11:10 p.m., a deputy observed a driver committing a traffic violation on Speedway Road near the intersection with Manor Loop in Green. The deputy activated his hazard lights to stop the driver.

The report states the vehicle disregarded a stop sign and failed to maintain its lane. A pursuit was initiated and the vehicle traveled at approximately 60 miles per hour on Highway 99 toward Roseburg. As Highway 99 turned onto Southeast Stephens Street, a police officer and deputy successfully laid out spike barriers.

The vehicle continued through Roseburg, toward Melrose, and exited Longs Ranch Road. At the top, the vehicle's tires were flat, if not completely destroyed. Eventually, the tires spun, but the vehicle stopped moving.

After several minutes of demanding that the driver exit the vehicle, he complied. The man, identified as 35-year-old Rodolfo Loera, had warrants out for his arrest, which were confirmed. He was charged with attempted eluding police in a vehicle, reckless driving, reckless endangerment and the warrants. Loera was held without bail.
