Two convicted of drug offenses

BECKLEY, W.Va. (WVVA) – Two Oak Hill residents have been sentenced to ten years in prison for conspiracy to violate the Uniform Controlled Substances Act.

The Fayette County District Attorney's Office said 39-year-old Benjamin N. Vargas and 36-year-old Stacey D. Norris both pleaded guilty. The prosecutor said both must spend at least two and a half years in prison before being eligible for parole.

According to the prosecutor, undercover police officers purchased suspected heroin or fentanyl from Vargas and Norris on three separate occasions in 2023 at a home on Rodgers Street in Oak Hill.

The investigation revealed that both had worked together to arrange the sale of the drugs and sell them to a cooperating person, the prosecutor said.

Laboratory tests showed that the drugs sold by Vargas and Norris were a mixture of fentanyl, xylazine and methamphetamine, the prosecutor said.
