Public Notice: Request for public assistance regarding moose poaching incident near Codroy Pond

The Ministry of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture's Resource Enforcement Division is seeking information regarding an incident of moose poaching near Codroy Pond in western Newfoundland.

Officers responded to a complaint from the public about a dead bull moose approximately two kilometres east of Codroy Pond near the Trans-Canada Highway. The moose had been shot and abandoned and was likely killed on Monday, September 23, 2024.

Officials continue to seek information on two other poaching incidents in the area. An illegally killed moose was reportedly shot on the road in the St. David's area on the morning of September 18. A dead bull moose, likely killed between September 14 and 16, was shot and left approximately four miles down the Black Duck Siding Resource Road.

Anyone with additional information regarding these incidents or who has observed suspicious activity in the area is asked to contact the Resource Enforcement Division, Stephenville Detachment, at 709-643-3143.
