The Cottage Hills man jailed for shooting two people in Shipman nearly a year and a half ago is headed to prison. Jacob Kimbro, 37, pleaded guilty in Macoupin District Court this (Thursday) morning to killing his wife, Theresa Kimbro. He is also accused of shooting her father, John Sullivan, and killing a dog at a home in the 500 block of Young Lane on Feb. 25, 2023.

Kimbro was taken into custody by the Madison County Sheriff's Department in Cottage Hills on the afternoon of the murder. According to court documents, Kimbro was on probation for a domestic violence charge at the time of the incident. He has been in the Macoupin County Jail since shortly after his arrest. Sentencing is scheduled for October 23rd. The first-degree murder conviction carries a prison sentence of 20 to 60 years.
