Stephen Amell says he was “damned” by the NCIS spin-off role

Stephen Amell has hinted that he was “banned” from a role in NCIS: Origins.

The Arrow The actor spoke about auditioning for the upcoming film NCIS prequel series in the same week as his successful audition Suits Spin off Suits: LA.

“My real focus this week was an audition I had on Wednesday for the prequel they were acting for NCIS“, he revealed on the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum Podcast. “The younger version was played [of Leroy Jethro Gibbs].”

The star said he was “excited at the prospect” of doing a network show and felt the audition went “extremely well.”

“I got great feedback,” he continued. “I hadn’t looked at the pages Suits: LA And yet, and then I found out on Thursday afternoon – after getting not only good feedback but good information, like, “We think it's actually going to move forward” – suddenly it was dead.

“And I felt like someone blocked me somewhere along the way…So I didn't know what was going on and I was really frustrated.”

The role of young Gibbs eventually took over Catch-22This is Austin Stowell.

Amell went into more detail about his later reading Suits: LAwhich revealed that he had a “breakdown” on the way to the audition due to a number of factors.

“I called my wife on the way to the audition… and got a crappy call about a personal business matter… combined with the fact that I was alone with both kids all week [and] my perceived NCIS “It was light and I had a total car breakdown, emotional and screaming,” he said.

“I really went into this audition without any fear. I went in, read the audition and tried to be a lot more relaxed and spontaneous than I think probably a lot of other people because this guy is a lawyer. This guy is supposed to be the smartest guy in the room. But at the same time, I thought everyone would be dead serious, so let’s just have a little fun.”

Speaking about the role, the star later added: “Looking back, I got the job I was supposed to get and everything worked out for a reason.”

NCIS: Origins will premiere October 14 on CBS. NCIS airs on CBS in the US. Seasons 1-20 are streaming on Disney+ in the UK.
