A crash on the expressway in Ontario County has closed an eastern section of the highway for several hours

Early Thursday morning, three tractor-trailers collided on the New York State Thruway; There were no serious injuries, but the accident and cleanup closed a section of the highway between the Geneva and Manchester exits for several hours.

A crash involving three tractor-trailers on the New York State Thruway in Ontario County closed an eastern section of the highway for several hours early Thursday.

According to state police, this happened around 4:30 a.m. between Exit 42 near Geneva and Exit 43 near Manchester.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a tractor-trailer driven by Gurvir Sing, 52, of Ohio, was transporting shampoo bottles eastbound when it struck the guardrail, leaving the semi-truck sideways on the roadway.

According to police, a second tractor-trailer driven by Richard Puryear, 38, of Texas, and passenger Michael Villegas, 42, of Texas, was also traveling eastbound when it struck Sing's truck, causing it to overturn and spill shampoo from the trailer.

According to police, a third tractor-trailer, driven by Donnie Miller, 70, of Rochester, crashed into Puryear's truck.

All three drivers were taken to Strong Hospital with minor injuries.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation responded to the scene to deal with the spill.

This eastern section of the highway was closed for several hours and was mostly open by early afternoon, with the right lane still closed in the area of ​​the crash.
